美國歐巴馬政府在規範溫室氣體排放上獲得重大勝利。美國最高法院23日以5比4的票數，判決環保署有權規範固定來源的溫室氣體排放，包括發電廠等單位。

大法官史卡利亞在判決書摘要中表示：「環保署在本案中幾乎得到所有想要的東西。環保署想要規範的汙染源，涵蓋全國固定來源排放溫室氣體的86%；而依據我們的判決，環保署將能規範83%的排放量。」
