美國政府無孔不入監控人民，華盛頓郵報報導，美國國家安全局 (NSA)和聯邦調查局 (FBI)出入九大網路巨擘的伺服器採集個資數據，包括音頻、視頻、照片、email、搜尋史、轉檔、聊天及其他連線資訊。報導說，這項情蒐方案名叫PRISM，成立於2007年，後來觸角逐漸無所不至，目前在歐巴馬的每日極機密情治簡報裡扮演重要角色。報導說，PRISM涉入微軟、雅虎、Google、臉書、蘋果、PalTalk、AOL、Skype和YouTube。其中有幾家業者，包括微軟、蘋果，允許NSA和FBI這麼做，Google則否認「開後門」讓這兩個單位進入。
