跟冷卻水的溫度有關。

怠速馬達有一個通道是接水管進出的，

當經過一夜冷卻的冷卻水水溫非常低，

怠速馬達偵測到如此低溫的冷卻水溫後，

會把訊息傳給內部電腦進而把節氣閥給打開，讓燃燒室進氣後燃油，

以提高轉速約1200轉讓引擎達到工作溫度，附加讓油溫也達到工作溫度。

引擎熱起來時把熱量傳給冷卻水以散熱，

冷卻水的水溫就慢慢升高了，

此時你看儀表板上的水溫表，會慢慢升高。

水溫升高的同時，節氣閥的開度也慢慢減少，

直到水溫達到標準溫度後(大約水溫表中間位置)，

節氣閥完全關閉，此時車體會更安靜，轉速也降到800轉了。
